Ostuni Wine Woman Award 2012

The award, organized by Green Italy, is designed to celebrate the achievements of women professionals in the wine sector and give them the recognition they deserve. Our Wine Woman of the Year must, however, do more than only creating exceptional wines. The winner is judged according to her overall personality, her view of the wine industry and her career goals. Contenders for the Wine Woman Award will be nominated, selected and recognized by judging panels consisting of five acknowledged women professionals. The winner will be announced, in Ostuni, Italy, alongside the Pink Choice Award, a competition is designed to answer a simple question: "what wines do women love?"

In a way or another women make more than 60% of all the wine buying decisions. Our company is organizing an in-depth survey on women’s  tastes and preferences: Our work will be distributed worldwide via the web.  This helps consumers to make informed wine purchases. The Pink Choice Award is one of the initiatives we have designed to contribute to the success of an important sector of the Italian (and Apulian) economy.

Judging Methodology: “Pink Choice”  is a true blind tasting, which means that the judges do not know the maker of the wine, they never see the labels, nor do they know the price of the wine.  This makes it possible for our judges to identify outstanding wines across the range of price points and varietals.

Wine Woman Award.
